Today, ShorelineHudson supports the risk management and compliance needs of over 7,000 vessels trading to U.S. waters, delivering tailored regulatory insurance and risk management solutions to the world’s leading shipowners and operators.
Historical Perspective
Shoreline and HudsonAnalytix have been responding to major regulatory shifts in the maritime industry that have been shaped by global events for over 70 years between them.
On March 24, 1989, the Exxon Valdez oil spill released 11 million gallons of oil into Alaska’s Prince William Sound, prompting the U.S. government to strengthen environmental protection laws. In the aftermath, the founders of HudsonAnalytix, played a key role in the response, gaining critical expertise that informs the company’s spill response services today.
Meanwhile, in Bermuda, U.S. regulators and the shipping industry sought insurance innovators to underwrite OPA 90 COFR guarantees, covering cleanup costs up to $500 million. Shoreline Ltd was among the first to accept this responsibility, ensuring international vessels could continue trading to the U.S.
Both companies are industry leaders in their respective fields. Together, they create a synergy that drives innovation, enhances maritime risk management, and delivers solutions that total more than the sum of their parts.
