P&I Clubs & Insurers
As P&I correspondents on the Delaware River for both Steamship Mutual and NorthStandard, ShorelineHudson enjoys longstanding, trusted relationships with the International Group of P&I Clubs. Our role extends well beyond correspondent duties: for over a decade we have delivered NorthStandard’s First Call crew-medical claims service, achieving significant savings for Members through effective medical case management and bill mitigation.
With cyber risk an increasing focus for IG Clubs and their reinsurers, Hudson Cyber supports cyber-risk underwriting through SaaS-based vessel cyber-assessment tools. These help reinsurers evaluate exposure and improve fleet-level risk selection.
Historically described as a “satellite resource” to the IG, Shoreline has long pioneered insurance coverage for risks that fall outside the traditional P&I model. From early development of OPA-90 insurance solutions to serving as a War Blue Card insurer for passenger shipowners seeking alternatives for PLR Convention certification, we have consistently provided bespoke coverage where needed.
Most recently, we developed MARPOL Detention Cost Insurance, an affirmative cover designed to reduce friction between Clubs and Members when environmental non-compliance allegations arise in U.S. waters. This solution ringfences operational exposure from the Member’s P&I record and supports both parties with clarity and confidence.
Our Hudson colleagues have also supported some of the most challenging maritime incidents in the United States, including the COSCO Busan casualty in California. Together with our daily correspondent support across the Eastern Seaboard, this reflects the depth and strength of our collaboration with the P&I community.
Through Maritime Insurance Solutions Ltd. (MISL), our wholly managed SAC insurer in Bermuda, we underwrite and place the specialized marine insurance lines. Over more than 30 years, Shoreline has earned the trust of Lloyd’s and London market reinsurers as a reliable source of well-managed maritime risk.
