P&I Correspondent Services
Supporting the International Group — When It Matters Most.
At the Centre of Marine Risk
For shipowners, operators, and managers, P&I insurance sits at the center of the marine risk universe.
The International Group of P&I Clubs underpins day-to-day operations, from crew welfare and cargo liabilities to pollution response and regulatory compliance.
When something goes wrong, the P&I Club is the first call.
When that incident unfolds on the ground, in real time, and under regulatory scrutiny, Clubs and their Members rely on trusted partners who understand both the operational realities at sea and the regulatory, legal, and political environment ashore.
That is where ShorelineHudson operates.
Here to Support, Not to Replace
P&I incidents rarely develop in isolation.
- A crew injury escalates.
- A collision draws in multiple stakeholders.
- A pollution event triggers immediate regulatory oversight and public attention.
In U.S. waters, the owner, as Responsible Party, must have professional representation and authority within the Unified Command system, often under intense time pressure and scrutiny.
In these moments, clarity, alignment, and calm execution matter.
Insurance coverage alone is not enough.
What is required is experienced, on-scene support that helps protect the interests of both the P&I Club and its Member.
Working Within the P&I System
ShorelineHudson works within the P&I ecosystem, not alongside it.
- Acting as a commercial P&I correspondent on the U.S. Eastern Seaboard
- Supporting IG Club Members 24/7
- Working daily with Clubs, Members, lawyers, and local authorities
Our role is straightforward:
to represent the Club and Member professionally and pragmatically on the ground, when it matters most.
When a Pollution Incident Occurs
As the contracted Qualified Individual (QI) for a significant number of vessels trading to the United States, ShorelineHudson is embedded in the response framework before an incident occurs.
When a pollution or regulatory event arises, we are positioned to:
- Assess and triage the situation immediately
- Commit funds on behalf of the P&I Club and Member
- Coordinate with Federal and State authorities
- Support Club and Member interests within Unified Command and Control system
This is front-line operational responsibility, exercised under scrutiny, tight timelines, with real legal consequences.
Claims, Response, and Technical Support
Our teams provide practical, hands-on support across the full range of P&I exposures, including:
Claims & Response
- Personal injury, crew illness and fatalities
- Stowaways, crew welfare, and immigration matters
- Pollution incidents and environmental response
- Cargo damage and contamination
- Collisions and allisions
Survey & Technical Support
- Ship condition surveys
- Cargo surveys and inspections
- Incident-related inspections and evidence preservation
- Regulatory and port-state engagement support
Our approach is grounded in execution, not theory, informed by long experience operating at the intersection of P&I, regulation, and incident response.
The Outcome That Matters
When ShorelineHudson is involved, the objective is consistent:
- Contain escalation
- Support the Member
- Assist the Club
- Resolve matters efficiently and defensibly
Our familiarity with U.S. regulators and response frameworks helps Clubs act with confidence, knowing their interests are being represented professionally, proportionately, and responsibly on the ground.
Why This Approach Works
ShorelineHudson is not a generalist service provider.
We are embedded in the U.S. marine risk environment, working daily with IG P&I Clubs, shipowners, and managers as correspondent, QI, and claims/response partner.
That presence enables:
- Fewer surprises
- Faster response
- Better outcomes under pressure
P&I works best when the right people are already in place before the incident occurs.
